Location: Laredo, TX area Division: Federal Services Position Overview SLS is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to support large-scale CBP border infrastructure Design-Build projects in the Southwestern US (Texas, New Mexico, and/or Arizona). This role is responsible for day-to-day field execution of complex, linear construction work including vertical barriers, waterborne barriers, patrol roads, access roads, and associated attributes, performed under a multi-phase, fast-track federal contract environment. The Field Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent will support the Project Superintendent with daily field operations, coordination of subcontractors and crews, construction sequencing, production, and coordination with the project safety and quality teams. This position reports directly to the Project Superintendent. Position Requirements Serve as Field Superintendent reporting directly to the Sr. Construction Superintendent unless otherwise determined by the Project Manager. Interact with client representatives on construction mattes to communicate SLS interests and ensure their input is taken into account and communicated to other project stakeholders. Interact with Subcontractor representatives in support of the Sr Construction Superintendent's efforts to manage their performance and ensure contract compliance. Monitor construction progress for adherence with the project schedule and budget constraints. Assist in developing site utilization plans and traffic plans to support logistics efforts. Interact with all members of the Project Management Team as necessary to communicate information necessary to ensure successful project execution. Gather and provide information as needed by the Design/Engineering Team. Interface with Site Safety Representatives to maintain a safe and healthy work environment in accordance with the project Safety Plan and OSHA requirements. Ensure jobsites are always kept in a clean and organized manner. Interface with Site Quality Representatives to ensure construction efforts are in accordance with project specifications. Interface with the Project Security Manager to ensure communication of security related information to all interested parties and security protocol is followed. Participate in daily and weekly Construction Meetings to identify construction issues impacting progress and communicate them to all stakeholders to find resolution. Provide input to Project Scheduler on status of construction activities and forecast plans. Maintain daily log of activities and complete all assigned daily or weekly reports. Communicate non-compliance to subcontractors in regards to quality of work and scheduling. Maintain high standards of performance and professionalism on the jobsite. Qualifications College degree (2yr or 4yr) in Construction Management or technical discipline preferred 5+ yrs experience on commercial or civil infrastructure projects (heavy civil preferred) Experience with DOD/USACE/NAVFAC a plus 30-hour OSHA certification a plus U.S. Citizenship; valid driver's license; successfully pass background/security checks Ability to speak, read and write fluent English Proficiency on a computer and with MS Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) Physical Demands: Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity. Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands. Occasional lifting (up to 40 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying. Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements). Ability to work outside in and around construction sites safely.
