Department 10095 CCBD Psych SocialPay Range $73,195.20 - $121,971.20 Shift: DayWho We Are: The Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., is a leading pediatric specialty center offering comprehensive care for children with cancer, blood disorders, and immune-related conditions. Within the department, social workers are specially trained and licensed professionals who provide an array of psychosocial services to enhance the quality of care our patients and families receive. About the Role: Social Worker II will support patients and families within the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, including Allergy/Rheumatology, at the Montgomery County outpatient clinic. Travel to the main campus may be needed 1-2 times per month. The Social Worker II fosters positive and professional interpersonal relationships with patients/families, physicians, hospital staff, community agency representatives and visitors, provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment for identified patients and based on findings, facilitates interventions. Effectively uses interpersonal communication skills to resolve conflicts and promote a healing environment. Demonstrates leadership and advanced clinical practice by mentoring junior staff, educating social work students and staff, medical/nursing providers on a range of topics that impact patient and family coping, communication, family dynamics, de-escalation and staff coping.
