Under general supervision of the Director of Treasury, the Accountant 2 supports UC ANR's Cash Management function by performing cashiering, deposit processing, financial transaction review, and account reconciliation activities. The position maintains accurate financial records and collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure timely processing, compliance with University policies and accounting standards, effective internal controls, and responsive customer service. This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed. Pay Scale: $ 30.17/hour to $ 41.04/hour Job Posting Close Date: This job is open until filled. Cashiering, Cash Management & Deposit Operations:
Perform cashiering, cash management, and deposit functions in support of UC ANR financial operations. Receive, process, record, and reconcile a variety of financial transactions in accordance with University policies and established procedures. Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation. Assist in safeguarding University assets through established cash handling and internal control practices.

Accounting & Financial Operations:
Perform professional accounting duties related to cash management and general accounting functions. Prepare and reconcile financial transactions, journal entries, and supporting documentation. Analyze and resolve routine accounting issues and assist with financial reporting and period-end activities.

Customer Service & Collaboration:
Collaborate with UC ANR departments and campus partners to support financial operations and resolve accounting-related questions. Provide responsive customer service and guidance regarding accounting procedures, documentation requirements, and financial processes. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders while ensuring the confidentiality of financial information.

Compliance & Operational Support:
Support compliance with University policies, accounting standards, and internal control requirements. Assist with audit activities, process documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform other accounting and financial support duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Associate degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training. Two or more years of progressively responsible accounting or financial experience, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial reports, or related transactions. Working knowledge of GAAP, financial systems, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with diverse internal and external partners. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive financial information.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working in a higher education, governmental, or nonprofit environment. Experience using enterprise financial systems such as Oracle or similar ERP systems. Experience with cashiering, cash management, accounts receivable, or banking operations.
Special Conditions of Employment:
Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability damage insurance on vehicle used is required. Reimbursement of job-related travel will be reimbursed according to University policies. The University reserves the right to make employment contingent upon successful completion of the background check. This is a designated position requiring a background check and may require fingerprinting due to the nature of the job responsibilities.
