CU GI Community Practice Group Gastroenterologist

Job Summary:



As an important member of the GI community practice team, the Gastroenterologist will have clinical responsibilities including outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital consultations, endoscopic procedures, and nights/weekends call coverage.

The gastroenterologist will see outpatients at the Cherry Creek Medical Center at least 3 days per week (2 half-days outpatient clinic, 4 half-days outpatient endoscopy) and no more than 5 days per week (3 half-days of outpatient clinic, 5 half-days of outpatient endoscopy). Additionally, they will provide inpatient GI consultative services and nights/weekends call coverage at Highlands Ranch Hospital at least 6 weeks per year in rotation with other members of the community practice group.

The successful applicant for this position will be someone who communicates appropriately and effectively with patients, staff, consultants, and colleagues, has outstanding customer service skills, and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Evaluation and management of GI disorders within the scope of a general gastroenterologist including:

    • GERD
    • Dysphagia
    • IBS/functional GI disorders
    • Eosinophilic Esophagitis
    • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
    • Abnormal liver function tests
    • Pancreatitis
    • Occult iron deficiency anemia
    • GI motility disorders


  • Interpretation of GI diagnostics including:

    • Routine endoscopic procedures within the scope of a general gastroenterologist (polypectomy, treatment of upper/lower GI bleeding, endoscopic dilation)
    • Capsule endoscopy interpretation
    • Wireless pH capsule placement (Bravo)
    • Hydrogen Breath Testing

Qualifications:



Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Assistant Professor:



  • Applicants must hold MD degree. Applicants must be board-certified or actively board-eligible in Gastroenterology.
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date.
  • 1-3 year(s) of post fellowship experience


Associate Professor:



  • Applicants must hold MD degree. Applicants must be board-certified in Gastroenterology.
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date.
  • 4-7 year(s) of post fellowship experience
  • Previous successful appointment to the rank of Associate Professor at an accredited academic medical school.
  • Record of scholarship, teaching, and service sufficient to be appointed as an associate professor at the University of Colorado Denver


Professor:



  • Applicants must hold MD degree. Applicants must be board-certified in Gastroenterology.
  • A State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before hire date.
  • 8-10 year(s) of post fellowship experience
  • Previous successful appointment to the rank of Professor at an accredited academic medical school.
  • Record of scholarship, teaching, and service sufficient to be appointed as a professor at the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus.
  • A strong record of scholarly achievement and extramural funding
  • National and international reputation in Gastroenterology and Hepatology
  • Demonstrated leadership at an accredited medical school with fellows training programs, junior faculty development or continuing medical education course execution and/or accomplishments with community outreach, research projects and/or clinical trials in a complex healthcare organizational environment.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • At least 3 years of post-graduate GI clinical practice experience
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records, such as Epic
  • ACLS and BLS certification

Anticipated Pay Range:



The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $260,000 to $300,000

Associate Professor: $260,000 to $300,000

Professor: $260,000 to $360,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
