Human Resources and Safety District Coordinator | Fond du Lac, WI

McNeilus Steel, Inc. is accepting applications for a new team member to join our company as an HR and Safety professional. The schedule is Monday-Friday , times TBD.

The Human Resources (HR) and Safety District Coordinator is responsible for implementing and coordinating HR and safety programs across the district. This role supports employment practices, employee relations, wage and benefit administration, safety compliance, training, and employee engagement. The position ensures alignment with corporate policies while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

This position is based primarily in the district's main office, with regular visits to plant and warehouse areas to support safety initiatives, employee communication, and inspections. Occasional travel may be required for training, seminars, or corporate meetings. The role typically follows a standard 40-hour workweek, with additional hours as needed to meet operational demands.

Duties/ Responsibilities:

Human Resources



  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee personnel records.
  • Process and submit all payroll and personnel documentation to the Corporate Office.
  • Communicate and enforce company policies, procedures, and benefit programs to employees and supervisors.
  • Conduct employee orientations and informational meetings to ensure understanding of company practices and updates.
  • Manage full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding new hires.
  • Advise managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and applicable employment laws.
  • Monitor employee performance review processes to ensure timely completion and effective feedback.
  • Support managers during disciplinary actions or terminations, ensuring fairness and compliance.
  • Coordinate employee engagement activities and company events for the district.


Safety



  • Lead and oversee the district's Safety Program, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and maintain active safety committees.
  • Promote a culture of safety through communication, education, and continuous improvement.
  • Investigate all incidents, near misses, and property damage events; complete required documentation and follow-up actions.
  • Report all recordable accidents to the Corporate Office immediately and assist with investigations.
  • Collaborate with the Transportation Director on fleet safety and compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain required OSHA documentation, safety logs, and compliance files.
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained and equipped with required PPE and safety devices.


Other Responsibilities



  • Represent the district in HR and safety matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Participate in corporate HR or safety initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the General Manager, Corporate HR Manager and/or Corporate Safety Manager.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 4-5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment law, and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with HRIS systems (UKG preferred).
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.
