Position Highlights |
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arizona, Tucson is seeking a key research leader in the exciting field of autoimmunity. We are seeking a visionary scientist or physician/scientist to serve as the Director of the newly established Daniel Cracchiolo Institute for Pediatric Autoimmune Disease Research and contribute to its growth and recognition through groundbreaking investigations into pediatric autoimmunity with a focus on Type 1 Diabetes, Celiac disease, IBD, and Arthritis.
This is a $2 million-dollar endowed chair position, with a comprehensive start-up package, providing all the resources necessary for success. The successful candidate will have the privilege of working in a highly collaborative environment in our newly renovated, state-of-the-art laboratory space, equipped with cutting-edge research technology. While the primary focus of this role is research, we value the integration of patient care. As a scientist or physician/scientist, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to engage in some patient care activities, allowing them to make a tangible impact on the lives of those affected by pediatric autoimmune and autoinflammatory diseases. As non-clinical faculty, a successful candidate will have ample opportunity to engage with the clinical units and Banner physicians to advance the translational aspects of their research program. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Oversee the
research and/or clinical growth of the department and center. - Lead the
collaborative research program in pediatric autoimmune and inflammatory disorders.
For physician/scientist:
- Oversee pediatric inpatients and outpatients in
field of specialty. - Contribute to teaching medical students and residents.

Minimum Qualifications |
- PhD, MD, DO,
MD/PhD, DO/PhD degree. - Experience and
funding history in basic and translational science.
For physician/scientist:
- BC Pediatrics (appropriate specialty).
- Obtain Arizona
Medical License by hire date.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Extramural funding desired.
- Experience in autoimmunity/inflammation research.
For physician/scientist:
- Track record of unique subspecialty.
- Clinical expertise.
- Leadership in clinical and educational enterprises.
- Experience in programmatic development.
