Job Summary:

Allina Health has a robust Mental Health and Addiction Clinical Service Line that offers the full continuum of care including integration, specialty outpatient clinics, addiction, co-occurring services, partial hospitalization, day treatment, emergency, and inpatient care.

Key Position Details:

Responsible for direct patient care by reviewing the patient's medical history while collecting, prioritizing, and synthesizing comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation. Provide education, consultation, or intervention to patients (treatment plan) and their families. Provide inpatient addiction medicine services and clinical care.

This position will:

  • Primarily support Abbott Northwestern Hospital along with other inpatient unit locations within the organization.
  • Have access to a robust network of mental health and addiction services and resources including but not limited to licensed alcohol drug counselors (LADC), crisis clinicians, social work, psychiatry, and pain specialists.
  • Be part of a team with an extensive range of experience and training including medical toxicology, addiction medicine, psychiatry, internal medicine, family medicine, and emergency medicine.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

  • Provides addiction specialty care and inpatient addiction medicine consultation services.
  • Develops outcomes-based treatment plans of care that address mental health, substance use, functional impairment, and co-occurring substance use and/or medical disorders.
  • Engages the patient and family to develop treatment plans that address identified goals.
  • Champions a model of integrated care that focuses on the full spectrum of patient health through close collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Consults with attending providers to assist with ongoing management of the needs of their patients as related to diagnosis or substance use disorder, intoxication, or withdrawal.
  • Develops and leads staff education on topics pertinent to substance use and addiction medicine.
  • Utilizes quality improvement tools to develop processes that promote continuous improvement in the delivery of patient care, patient outcomes, or workflows.

Job Requirements

  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalency training required
  • Completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) accredited Residency training program or foreign equivalency training required and
  • Completion of Addiction Medicine Fellowship and/or Medical Toxicology Fellowship required
  • Two years of demonstrated experience in designated specialty area preferred
  • Licensed Physician - MN Board of Medical Practice required if working in the state of Minnesota upon hire
  • BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required upon hire
  • Board Certified or board eligible in addiction medicine OR medical toxicology instead of Completion of Addiction Medicine Fellowship and/or Medical Toxicology Fellowship required within 1-1/2 Yrs and
  • Drug Enforcement Agency Certificate upon hire required and
  • Prescription Monitoring Program upon hire required and
  • National Provider Identifier upon hire required

Pay Range

Pay Range: $284,960 to $309,000 per year The pay described reflects the starting base pay range, assuming a full-time FTE. Your starting rate will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
