We are looking for a skilled Senior Associate, Packaging Engineer to design, develop, and optimize packaging solutions for our diverse range of international consumer products. As the Senior Associate, Packaging Engineer in Cross-Category Delivery, you will have an exciting opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver packaging solutions that meet both functional requirements and aesthetic standards across business categories and regions. You will be responsible for the technical development of product packaging for projects that drive ICB strategic initiatives including, but not limited to cost savings, supply resiliency and sustainability. You will design and commercialize new products/packages, line-extensions, and lead technical tasks related to different business needs driven by organizational and market requirements. You will participate in cross-functional teams, providing technical expertise to ensure that the key project objectives are present, applicable, and robust. You are expected to concurrently manage multiple project elements and a variety of project activities with shifting priorities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Identify and apply new and existing packaging technologiestowards the development of innovative new products and the enhancement of existing productsand lead the packaging development of commercialization projects for ICB Cross-Category Delivery. * Research and evaluate materials and components for the development of cost-effective, high-quality packaging solutions that consumers find appealing without impacting their experience with the products and delivering on our strategic commitments. * Providestrongtechnical leadership within a globalcross-functional team to drive thedesign anddevelopment of innovative new productsoroptimization of existing packages. * Design, coordinate, and complete performance and compatibility testing of packaging component changes. * Execute packaging development projects by creatingand followingeffective project timelines and related success criteria to realize on-time project completion dates. * Lead evaluation of technical performance and stability of combined package and formula systems, collaborating closely with formulators and processing engineers throughout development. * Generate robust packaging component specifications, finished good product specifications,and bills of materials. * Utilize available external resources (patent literature, suppliers, etc.) to identifyand recommendapplicable new technologies to support the International Consumer Business. * Draft qualification plans for new packaging components, equipment modifications, and site moves. Plan and execute line trials at both internal and external manufacturing sites, author technical reports & documents. * Leverage internal resources and technical expertise through formal and informal forums to ensure due diligence in completing technical deliverables including BOM setup, robust packaging component, validation test plans, and technical report on results. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING * Bachelor's Degree in packaging engineering, packaging science or related field of engineering disciplines (e.g. Mechanical, Materials,) and at least 2 years of relevant work experience OR Masters's Degree in packaging engineering, packaging science or related field of engineering disciplines (e.g. Mechanical, Materials). * Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS * Proven technical competency in primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging design, and qualification (e.g., product/package compatibility, distribution/warehouse testing, and manufacturing qualification). * Broad knowledge of current ICB product portfolios and regional business footprint * Experience with various packaging disciplines such as aerosols and liquids packaging, dispensing systems, materials, closures, manufacturing line requirements, plastic molding techniques, and/or product/environment compatibility. * Strong team player, Proactive, result-driven, and initiative-taker. Ability to communicate effectively through oral and written presentations, including effective storytelling to non-technical individuals. * Experience with any of the following support systems such as PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), Microsoft Office Suite, CAPE, Winshuttle, and WebCenter. * Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, including anticipation and communication of technical risks and mitigation plans. JOB REQUIREMENTS * Position is Full-Time, regular business hours, Monday-Friday * Office work environment: Remote work available once a week for eligible employees * Ability to lift 10 - 40 pounds * Travel up to 15% * This position is eligible for domestic relocation BENEFITS AND PERKS SC Johnson's total compensation packages are at or above industry levels.
