Lab for Infectious Disease Research

Job Description

The Immunology Core Facility at the Laboratory for Infectious Disease Research (LIDR) is seeking an enthusiastic Research Consultant II to join our team. This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in groundbreaking research on Risk Group 3 bacteria and viruses using highly innovative instrumentation. Current areas of research include plague, tularemia, arboviruses, and coronaviruses. The successful candidate will contribute to research unraveling the mechanisms of pathogenesis and developing innovative medical countermeasures. The LIDR mission emphasizes collaboration, within University of Missouri (MU) groups and with academic and industry research partners worldwide.

The LIDR is a Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL) located on the MU-Columbia campus. As a state-of-the-art NIAID-supported facility, LIDR enables research with pathogens up to biosafety level 3 (BSL-3). It serves as a critical resource for MU scientists and collaborators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct experiments and analyze data related to immunology and infectious disease research in a BSL-3 environment
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records and prepare reports on research findings
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on multidisciplinary research projects
  • Contribute to grant writing and manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed publications

Shift

Monday-Friday 8AM-5PM

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 4 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in flow cytometry, tissue culture, and BSL-3 laboratory practices (training will be provided if needed).

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $58,573 - $78,304 per year
