Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Employee Relations Leader to spearhead the creation of our Employee Relations Center of Excellence. In this pivotal role, you will have the unique opportunity to design and implement strategies that will significantly enhance our employee culture and engagement.


Responsibilities

The Director of Employee Relations and Compliance will be responsible for:

Employee Relations:

  • Lead the team responsible for proactively managing and resolving employee relations issues, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture. Ensure that the employee relations team receives ongoing training and development focused on best practices in managing employee relations issues and providing comprehensive solutions. Provide guidance and methodologies to help managers coach performance and employee relations issues.
  • Design and implement an investigation framework that includes a consistent process for researching and responding to employee concerns as well as follow up and aftercare; ensuring a positive employee experience that reinforces for employees that their concerns will be reviewed and addressed in a timely, fair and consistent manner. Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel during investigations and ensure fair and impartial outcomes.
  • Manage ER data and analytics through our ER platform to understand trends and patterns across the organization and make recommendations about policy and practice to help address systemic issues. Ensure consistency in practice and approach to managing employee relations, supporting a workplace where all employee concerns are handled fairly and without bias.
  • Authority and accountability for the investigation process focused on employee complaints or alleged policy violations. Responsibility for leading the process for all required actions as part of the RIF process, including due diligence, adverse impact analysis and overseeing the preparation of separation documents. Review and approve all involuntary terminations.

Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of relevant labor laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance through networking and self-directed learning.
  • Track and ensure compliance requirements are implemented across all HR COEs.
  • Manage Affirmative Action Plan and all EEO Reporting. Recommend compliance training programs for employees and management as needed.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that align with organizational goals and legal requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits to assess and enhance compliance processes.
  • Create innovative methods of communication to ensure managers and employees can easily access policy information.
  • Partner with Human Resources Compliance, Legal and Executive Leaders to recommend and inform needed updates to policies and procedures to mirror current practice in accordance with legal and regulatory changes.

Accountable for ensuring the employee relations team receive appropriate training and stay current on employee relations, compliance, and related topics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree or relevant certification is a plus.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in employee relations and HR compliance roles.

  • Experience with HR Acuity or similar ER platform a plus.

  • Expert level knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Prior management experience with an emphasis on employee performance and development.

  • Ability to impartially assess situations and exercise judgement in providing recommendations and solutions.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Strong data and analytical skills.

  • Ability to interact with and influence C-Suite and influence leaders on solutions focused on risk mitigation.

  • Proven experience conducting effective investigations and providing sound recommendations and solutions to employee concerns.

  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
